Sectional Coffee Tables
Pairing a coffee table to a sectional sofa can be tricky. Ideally, regardless of where you sit on the couch, you should be able to easily access the table to put your drink down or pick up a magazine. A circular table is going to neglect the far ends of the sofa while a typical rectangular table will forsake one side or the other. An L-shaped design is optimal, but the natural movement of the wood makes it difficult to join the wood in two different grain orientaitons, to say nothing of the difficulty of moving a table of that shape and size.
This two table set I designed achieves the L-shape but offers both flexibility and portability. The lower table tucks in between the base and the top of the taller table and can be oriented such that you have two sides of similar length, or one that is longer depending on the room that it will go into.
This set in particular is made primarily of sapele, a strong and dense African hardwood that has similar visual properties to mahogany. The design is flexible and be customized to fit your room and can be made out of any wood or combintions of wood that can be procured in the appropriate thicknesses.
