During my scouring of craigslist, I came across an add in Sarasota for "rosewood". Always on the lookout for inexpensive ways to find materials, I responded to the ad and soon ended up in a workshop owned by a guy named Steve. Apparently, Steve and a friend had come across an Indian rosewood (Sissoo) tree that fell down in a neighbor's yard and offered to remove it for her. They took it to a local sawmill and had it cut up fo next to nothing, used it for a variety of projects and sold quite a bit of it as well.
I was late to the party but I picked up a few irregularly shaped pieces. Most of them have been planed down to flat surfaces on two sides, and are ready to become a piece of furniture, a wine rack, or anything else you can think of.
